great quote

"You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Our Lives

Matthew and I have been enjoying our lives lately! The weather is beautiful and the sun is shining! Matthew just started his next class- Accounting. He still has his final for History and his final paper for english (his last 2 classes). Then he still has economics, organizational behavior, and another one. Work has been good for me. I've gotten use to my 8-545 schedule, including commute. I enjoy reading on the metro and now that it's warmer enjoy the walk to and from. During the week, we don't do much else. We watch our TV shows and relax. Tuesdays is cub scouts- which is really exciting.  Right now we're working on their derby cars. The boys are full of life and energy but it sure keeps us on our toes! On the weekends, we usually clean the house(super fun right! haha) and do something fun. This weekend, we watched the wrestling finals. Matthew really enjoyed it! I fell asleep but what I saw was good! Next weekend, we're hoping to get to see some family down in the city and maybe visit Arlington Cemetery. Living so close to the city is really nice! There is so much to do!
The next few months are going to be really busy for  us! My friends from home, Shannon and Matt, are getting married April 17- but I can't get off the Friday before or Monday after, so it's going to be a trip up on friday night and home one sunday. it'll be fun tho to see everyone. Then Matt's grandma is coming in April 20-27! then in May we'll celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I'm not sure what we're going to do yet but i'm going to take a few days off of work. it'll be really fun- whatever we decide to do. Then my good friend Whitney is getting married May 21 here in the DC temple and then we'll be going up to the reception in PA. That'll be another short trip- up friday after the wedding and home sunday afternoon. Then- we're hoping to do a lot of exploring in the city and having family come in to enjoy the summer. i'm super excited!

anyway- home teachers will be here soon <3 much love!

Valentine's Day

Well.... Valentine's Day weekend was an exciting one. We were wanting to go away somewhere but then due to snow and not sure if we were going to be stuck or able to get out or whatever, it didn't end up happening. Which is fine by me because we had a great weekend! Friday night we went to The Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal. I had my favorite lemon chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes and Matthew had stuffed chicken tortillas. Then we shared blueberry and white chocolate cheesecake. It was super yummy. Saturday morning wasn't very Valentine's-ish. We had our turn in cleaning the chapel in the morning. We went and did some cleaning but while we were inside there were about 20 people outside shoveling so that we were able to attend church on Sunday. It was amazing what a group of people can do if they work together. It was just super cool. Then we went to Target to find a wii but no luck ((in fact, no luck anywhere! totally sold out!)) The rest of Saturday was spent relaxing and watching NCIS and basketball stuff. It was super nice. We only had Sacrement meeting on Sunday due to lingering snow. Then we had dinner with a couple of people from the ward. It was super yummy food and a good time. It was nice to be with a bunch of people. What a great way to spend Valentine's Day.
Today, due to the holiday, I had no work. Since we had no snow(at least the first part of the day), we went to Tyson's Corner. It is such a fun big mall! I found the second season of NCIS on sale for $20.( YEAHH!!) Then I got a hot pink sweatshirt(that is SUPER comfy) and 3 short sleeve shirts for 30 bucks. Then, we decided for Valentines Day to get each other two gifts, one food and one not. We had a limit and we can spend any amount up to that but it could only be one thing. After walking around the entire mall, I decided to get Matt the first season of  MASH and he got me the third season of NCIS. For the food item, I got Matt a raspberry chocolate Godiva bar and he got me a pound of peachy rings :) mmmmmm. yummy. We also had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and then got Panda Express for dinner...
Valentine's Day was super fun and the weekend was worth staying in town for.
but the absolute best thing about Valentine's Day is that I got to spend a bunch of time with my most favorite person in the whole wide world.  I love my Matthew and I count every day I get to be with him as the very best day ever. :)
Hope yours was fantastic as well. <3

we're alive!

well, hello world!  we've been bombarded with more snow than I have ever seen in my entire life! it has been crazyy! It started friday when we were expected to get between 20-30 inches of snow. DC shut down around noon and so did our office. We have govnt employees(NARA staff) who work with us and without them we can't have any documents out. If we can't have documents out, we really have nothing to do- so we close too. So, We got about 32 inches of snow over the weekend! It was crazy- we dug out the car, played in the snow, had hot cocoa and cookies with friends, watched TV and played games. It was a great long weekend. Then, Monday- we're closed again! So today, we went to the groc store for some more driankage and snackies, and watched TV and ate leftover superbowl snacks. Then, I check the site to tell us if we are opened. and what- yes- we're closed again tomorrow! This is crazy! I dont even know if I had this much time off in high school! We're suppose to get about another 10-20 inches of snow between noon tomorrow and Wed! It's gonna be crazyy! So, I decided to post some pictures( also see pics at the top in the header) to show you that yes, while we are quite small people we are surviving in the snow. :)
around 1 pm saturdayour car- before we dug it out!yes- the snow is that high!at least 2 1/2 feet because it's up to my waist!matt's alive too :)but isn't it just so dang pretty <3
